Ben my sponsored child

Awhile back I took my daughter and her friend to a Jeremy Camp concert & at that concert was Compassion International. They are a non-profit organization that helps to support children in poverty worldwide. I wrote a $100 check and only planned on making a flat donation. I did not want to commit to sponsoring a child unless I knew more about the charity, but something that night kept telling me to "just do it." So I ended up signing up and sponsoring a little boy named Ben from Africa. He is 6 years old and lives in a small village. He lives in a mud house & his diet is primarily maize and beans. I know that my sponsorship will help with his continued medical care & schooling.

A month after I signed up, I got a letter & a picture that he drew thanking me for helping him. It makes you feel good knowing that my little contribution is helping this child out. I spend $3-5 every morning at Starbucks for my morning coffee & that is what his family might make in a week!

I have a link to their page at the bottom of my blog if you want to check it out. Please know that I am NOT an employee of Compassion International or getting paid in any way shape or form.

I just wanted to share a bit about Ben with you. Maybe one day I will be able to travel to Africa and pay a visit to him :)
